Applying Makeup Like A Professional
Whether you're applying makeup to yourself or a girlfriend, you know how important it can be to come away with the right look. The right amount and type of makeup can be extremely important in a woman's day to day life and part of the way to getting your look "right" is to work on the procedure.
A few makeup tips will get you started in the right direction if you remember them.
When working on getting just the right look, applying makeup can be difficult and frustrating, but it doesn't need to be!
One thing to think about when applying makeup is to think about what needs to be done and when. If you have a good idea of what you need to start off with and why, the process of applying makeup will be less of a mystery and more of a tool just for you!
To get the low-down on exactly how to apply makeup, plus a 1001 other make up tips, I highly recommend the Hollywood Makeup Secrets free newsletter.
When you start applying makeup in the morning, do you ever think about what you're doing?
Stop and try to remember the last time that your makeup routine changed. What's happened in your life since then?
If your life has changed, why not your makeup?
There's no reason to stay with a stale look just because it’s familiar and by keeping a few makeup tips in mind, you can have a fresh new look in no time!
Start at the Bottom
Concealer and foundation are both very important and the way you apply them can make a big difference to the results you get. One thing to keep in mind is that the colors should be a touch different, and that they should be able to blend harmoniously.
When you put on concealer, don't just dot it on, blend it with a sponge or warm cloth, or your fingers and make sure that it doesn't cake.
If your foundation goes on with the slightest hesitation, you will want to throw it out and get some more as there is a chance that the foundation has gone bad.
Eyebrow Tutoring!
Your eyebrows are almost as expressive as your eyes, and if you've ever singed them off, you know how important they are.
While it is important to keep your eyebrows well groomed, it is also important to make sure that you remember that applying makeup can enhance them and give them body; there are several MAC makeup products that are wonderful for this.
When filling in your eyebrows, you should use the powder form of the makeup rather than the pencil. The powder form gives you a more natural look instead of a straight line.
Blinking and Winking
When applying makeup, your eyelids are key, as many people will be looking you in the eye. For a wonderfully dramatic effect, use a light, medium and dark eyeshadow, with the darkest color being used to line the upper eyelid, the medium shade of eyeshadow for the crease of your eye and keep the lightest reserved for the area directly under your eyebrow.
While this can start out as your basic template, keep in mind that there are very few hard and fast rules. If it looks good and doesn't break any laws, go for it!
Blushing, Brides and Otherwise
Your blusher is meant to add life to your face and it will emphasize your natural beauty when you smile. In fact, smiling will help you apply this makeup!
When you smile, you can identify the high points of your cheeks. You can apply the blush directly to this point or right below it, depending on your preference and the results will keep you smiling.
Remember that blush usually stays as it is; if you have to blend it, you might have a shade that's too bright for your skin tone.
Lips of Loveliness
When you're getting your smile ready, nothing helps like knowing that your lipstick looks great! Applying makeup usually ends with the lips and there are a few things you'll want to remember.
Try not to choose a shade that's too dark for your mouth. If the effect is dramatic, that's wonderful, but all too often it ends up being jarring or muddy.
When choosing your lipstick, remember to choose the color that looks best on you, not what everyone else is wearing and remember that you should avoid dark lip liners with paler lipsticks.
